I'm a young at heart OAP with a liking for getting wet at heritage railway and bus events. I've been a rail and transport fan since I was a mere snotgobbler, and never really got over the ending of the steam era back in 1968, when those scumbags Marple and Beeching closed down my local railway line.
I shot with 35mm film for years, but these days shoot mainly digital with Pentax equipment as their lovely big DSLRs suit my big hands, and their excellent weatherproofing is a big asset in a soggy location like East Lancashire, which often gets more than its fair share of the wet stuff.
As well as Transport related subjects I'm also a keen local historian, and I like recording the (rapidly vanishing) local heritage, and also yomping around the local hilltops and moorland. Being a former electronics man I also have a passion for all things radio related, and I'm a radio ham and longtime Shortwave enthusiast when I'm not out and about taking photographs (though I do like to photograph anything related to radio and broadcasting).
