Home / Heritage & Heritage Events Gallery / Steam & Industrial Museums / Oak Mount Mill Engine House [19]

My attempts to visit a few new places this year were somewhat thwarted by the abysmal service provided by Northern Rail, but thankfully it was easy enough to get to Burnley by bus, so I took the opportunity to travel up there on a very wet Sunday 26th of August 2018, to see the Oak Mount Mill Engine House, which was also on my list, but is only open to the public on a few occasions every year. This engine is now powered by electricity rather than steam, but it was still impressive to see it in action for the first time, and of course it was nice and dry inside the Engine House. It was just a pity that the heavy rain curtailed the Canal Festival which was taking place nearby, or I'm sure their visitor numbers would have been much higher. Yet another place to visit if you get the chance, and you can find details of its opening times from the link above.
