I really wanted to get over to several of the events celebrating the KWVR's 50th anniversary, but an important anniversary of my own restricted me to just one visit, which took place on Tuesday 26th of June 2018. It was great to see the Royal Scot for the first time, and the recently restored Ivatt, which was looking quite wonderful. The extreme heat (which I don't like one bit), restricted me to the shady parts of Oxenhope Station, and a much shorter visit than I'd have liked. I enjoyed every minute of it though, and was doubly happy to see the 'Pug' on display in the Visitors Centre, particularly as this was the last ever steam loco to run through my own village some 50 years ago, and I was there that day to witness the sad occasion of our local line's closure by those *&^%$ Beeching and Marple!:-(

A very happy birthday to the KWVR, and long may it thrive as it's a lovely railway and one that I always enjoy visiting. Well done to all the staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the years to make it the success that it is, and something to be very proud of.
