I had hoped to be at the '1960s Weekend' event at the Museum of Transport in Greater Manchester on both days, one day for taking photographs, and one for riding, but after after a bout of Man Flu during the days leading up to it, a rare dose of common sense got the better of me, and I decided that spending a whole day out in the pouring rain, as much as I would have enjoyed that, would probably not be the best thing for my health in the long run. As it was I had to sit at home twiddling my thumbs all day on Saturday 21st of October, but come hell or high water I was determined that nothing would keep me away from day 2 on the Sunday, and it didn't. Luckily it was dry for most of the day, just very windy and a bit gloomy, though that's not always a bad thing at Boyle Street, as the a bright Sun to the south can make photography very hard at times as I've discovered from past experiences.

Anyway, I was able to spend the whole day there on the Sunday, and it's not often I'm at an event from the very start to the end, but as this is one of my most local events and much easier to get to from here by public transport on a Sunday, it did allow me a full six and a half hours of pure enjoyment, both with the camera and with riding on many of the runs on those lovely old buses. As well as the regular shuttle trips into the city centre, there was the usual trips to Woodthorpe Hall, where there are always good photo opportunities, and the chance to ride back on one of the other buses, and the main and final run of the day, when three very full buses made the trip out to Audenshaw, a place I must admit that I'd never visited before. This was really enjoyable, and of course allowed for some more photo opportunities, and it left me wishing I could have been on the similar trip to Swinton on the day before. Oh well, there's always next year, and I'll look forward to seeing what events they have in store for us in 2018, when I will most definitely be back there again (I should be there for the 'Christmas Cracker' in December before that though).

My thanks to all the staff and volunteers at the museum, and the owners and drivers for giving us another great weekend, and long may they continue. If you've never yet made a visit to Boyle Street be sure to put it on your list, as even if you can't make one of their events, you can always see the buses inside the museum, which is open right throughout the year.
