It has been a while since I was able to attend both days of the Lancashire Weekend event, but thankfully there weren't any other events clashing this time, so on both days I had a ride down to Bury to catch the reading of the Lancashire Proclamation and the various Morris groups dancing on the platforms (and attempting to drink the pubs dry). The Lancashire Proclamation was read on both days by the Westhoughton Town Crier John Crook, and dancing on the Saturday was done by the Royal Preston Morris Men, Wrigley Head Morris from Oldham, Rivington Morris and the Southport Swords, and on the Sunday by the Horwich Prize Medal Morris Men, the Oakenhoof Clog Dancers from Littleborough, and the legendary Brittania Coconutters from Bacup, who started at the Buffer Stops in Rawtenstall and then worked their way down to Bury on the DMU, before drinking Ramsbottom dry on the return journey.

The Friends of Real Lancashire were also in attendance again, and it was great to see just how this event has grown since it first began about 10 years ago. My thanks to all the participants, performers and organisers for a very enjoyable event and weekend.
