Saturday 17th of August 2019 saw me making the short trip to Bacup for the Bacup Fire Station Open Day, which was taking place that day. This was a much smaller event than the Rawtenstall one I attended a few weeks earlier, but it is a smaller station, and one that was built in the 1960s. The station has two pumps, one full-time and one Retained (part-time), and both were on display, along with a Fire Safety car, a tracked rescue vehicle, and a North West Ambulance Service vehicle. Yet again they were doing the demonstrations of what happens when you pour water on hot cooking oil, and this is always impressive and somewhat alarming to see. After the almost non-stop rains of the previous day this was breezy, pleasant and sunny in comparison and ensured plenty of visitors.
