There are usually a few very good events on at 'The Whitaker' and as it isn't very far from Rawtenstall Station I always try to get up there whenever I get the opportunity. On the weekend of the 6th/7th of July 2019 they were holding an event called 'Dialect-i-Fest' as part of the Rawtenstall Annual Fair, and with a line up of impressive folk musicians, magicians, The Lancashire Society and brass bands, it seemed like a good way to spend a few hours on the afternoon of Saturday 6th, especially as I needed to be at the ELR later in the afternoon. This fit in perfectly with my plans, and it was a shame I had to leave before the end, and it was great to finally put faces to performers Nick Dow, Les Bond and Nick Caffrey, who I had listened to on the long running 'Lancashire Drift' programme on BBC Radio Lancashire for many years when they presented it and it was a top quality programme. Thankfully I did manage to remember to take a few pictures (well it's hard for me not to photograph everything), and if I hadn't had to go to a tram event at Heaton Park the following day I might well have ended up back there again. What a pity it was that so many good events were clashing that weekend.
