I can usually tell how much I've enjoyed and event just by the humber of photos that I took there, so this one must have been a cracker. Very well organised, as is usually the case with Transdev Open Days, and lots going on for both the enthusiast and the general public, and a good chance to meet up with good friends and fellow bus fans. The event was held mainly to launch the 'Burnley Bus Company' and its brand new fleet of 30 Optare Buses. Very nice they looked as well, and I'm sure they're just as comfortable to ride on. Transdev are the most tradition friendly of all the large bus groups, and it's always great to see the way that they bring out these unique 'local' liveries, as opposed to the bland corporate liveries and markings of most of the other large bus broups such as First, Stagecoach and Arriva.

This was also the third Open Day event I've attended at one of their depots, and every one has been a good one, so it's good to see at least one company that does this so well and tries to keep in touch with the local public. As well as the new buses there were also many other events taking place, and of course plenty of older heritage buses, which were doing free rides between the depot and Burnley Bus Station. It was also nice to see the lovely owls on display as well, as I can never get enough of seeing these gorgeous birds. With refreshments, a jazz band, a bar, lots of stalls selling various things, and a chance to drive the Training Bus, what was not to like about the 'Big Burnley Bus Bash'. Any money made on the day was going to the 'Help for Heroes' charity, so a worthy cause was supported as well.

My thanks to all the organisers and volunteers and a big well done to Alex Hornby and his team for a very enjoyable day out. After you have checked out my photographs be sure to check out Mollsmyre's great video of the day, as you will also feel like you were there too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE3I-jCoySE
